Overview

Within months of discovering he's next in a long line of vampire hunters, Alex Van Helsing has already defeated two powerful vampire leaders. Not bad for a fourteen-year-old.

But when a newly risen vampire queen threatens the fate of the world, Alex faces his deadliest challenge yet. Teaming up with a motorcycle-riding witch, Alex jets between Switzerland, the UK, and Spain in a frantic race to prevent the queen from unleashing a curse that will plunge the world into darkness.

With the clock ticking, Alex barely has time to breathe, let alone see his friends, and he's beginning to wonder if being a vampire hunter is worth all its sacrifices. In this thrilling finale to the action-packed series described as "James Bond meets Dracula," everything—Alex's future and, ultimately, that of the world—hangs in the balance.

Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA)

Praise for Alex Van Helsing: Vampire Rising: “This wonderful series opener is a compelling action, fantasy, horror story ... will engage readers easily and many will not be able to put it down. A must-have.”

VOYA - Karen Sykeny

This third Alex Van Helsing book is packed full of action and continues to deliver character development with all the same likeable characters. Alex teams up with Astrid, a witch and new student at school, to stop Queen Claire and her faithful servant Elle from using scary, powerful magic. This mysterious new power must be stopped, but the Polidori must first find clues in the painting The Triumph of Death. There is one big problem: all Polidori records of how to defeat this power have been destroyed by a computer virus. Like its predecessors, this book is well written, with a fast-moving plot and gripping action adventure, making it a most enjoyable, perfectly entertaining novel. Yet more Van Helsing family secrets are revealed, as well as some interesting vampire secrets, and are weaved expertly into this novel from the two previous stories. Alex still copes and adapts using his special abilities and deals with just how special and unique he is in the fight against evil. Hopefully, the author will decide not to end Alex Van Helsing as a trilogy and instead continue entertaining readers with more adventures and vampire mythology, similar to Colfer’s Artemis Fowl. This excellent book is a must-have for all libraries, especially where horror fiction is hot. Ages 11 to 18.
