School Library Journal

Gr 6-10 A model of patriotism and involvement, this outstanding leader is brought to life in Keller's book. Since Hamilton's life was so involved with constitutional history, this well-written biography serves as an excellent textbook supplement. From his orphaned childhood in the West Indies to his untimely death by duel, Hamilton's life was one of dedication. Keller provides insights into his disappointments and successes. The poorly reproduced illustrations add only a bit to the book, and it's unfortunate that the original sources are not cited. Yet middle school and public librarians needing constitutional history material will find this a good addition. Miriam B. Hansen, formerly at Eau Claire Public Schools, Wis.
