This book covers much ground, albeit in a generalized manner. Duncan's main contribution has been to bring together many different categories of artistic production, from architecture and painting to various decorative arts, e.g. silver, metalware, ceramics, textiles. Information is arranged in chapters on exhibitions, types of media, world fairs, and industrial design styles in this century. American Art Deco is useful as a picture book (although reproduction quality is inconsistent) for public and school collections; academic libraries should acquire it work only as a visual supplement to more substantive texts.Paula A.
