About the Author, Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) was the 26th President of the United States. His politics led the U. S. more deeply into global affairs, and his leadership helped to found the Progressive Movement. He was also a writer, naturalist, and soldier as well as a politician. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906. He lived by his slogan, "speak softly and carry a big stick.”
