Overview

Ancient Sagadahoc is an investigation of the first 70 years of England's attempts to colonize New England. It is more specifically focused on what happened during those years on the Sagadahoc, the mouth of the Kennebec River in Maine, the very site that England initially chose to begin its colonization. Ancient Sagadahoc follows three generations of an English family of colonists who were employed by Sir Ferdinando Gorges to erect settlements in Maine.
