Children's Literature - Mary Sue Preissner

Hardaway is an apt name to perhaps explain this youth-raised the "hard way." Penny, the son of a teenage mother, spent most of his childhood with his grandmother. While this life was not luxurious by any means, he did grow up with boundaries, high goals, and love. He learned the value of education when poor grades kept him from playing basketball for part of his senior year in high school. Growing up in a violent neighborhood, Gandma imposed a "sun down" curfew, hoping it would help to keep him clear of gangs, drugs, and alcohol. As an adult, Hardaway supports many charities that direct efforts to helping children, in addition to his involvement with church activities.
