Gr 4-6-Each of these slim titles showcases working animals. Actors outlines the use of animals in movies and on television. Chapters on training and care (both on and off the set) are included, as is a section on how the American Humane Association monitors the treatment of these creatures. In Therapists, Presnall outlines how horses and horseback riding can be therapeutic for both physically and emotionally disabled people. Photos clarify the text and depict the equipment commonly used. In both books unfamiliar vocabulary is printed in bold and clearly defined in the glossary. Chapter titles and headings are printed in a red or blue, making it easy for readers to browse through the chapters for specific information. Both books have eye-catching covers, a notes section, and a list of organizations to contact for additional information. These volumes could be integrated into book displays featuring animal awareness issues for "Prevention of Animal Cruelty" month in April, "Be Kind to Animals" week in May, or for any other library event that has an animal or pet-care theme.
