Synopsis

An updated hardcover edition of Anne and Lizzy Rockwell's fall favorite, Apples and Pumpkins.

Naomi Butler - Children's Literature

A family visits a farm to pick apples and pumpkins for Halloween night. This is fun for children and their parents. It is also a learning experience for all. Anne and Elizabeth Rockwell seem to always know how to get that simple and perfect story and text combination for use with very young children. Drawings are simplistic but beautifully done. Colors denote the season. Some young children will be able to read it. It is also a good book to use with simple science lessons. The paperback format and size are right, too, for handling by the child and for taking with them. Other Aladdin Paperbacks are listed inside the back cover. The price is right so that parents and libraries can replace them or buy more of the series. There is a "Note to Parents and Caregivers" inside the front cover. The National Science Teachers Association and the Children's Book Council have listed it as an Outstanding Science Book for Children. It is part of the "Stories To Go" series. 1989, Aladdin Paperbacks/Simon & Schuster, and Ages 2 to 5.
