Art and Intimacy

The author has written other books on the origins and value of art, and has lectured and taught in a variety of settings, including the U. of Alberta and Ball State University. Her main theme here is a connection between love and art, in particular the impulses that derive from early connections of the infant with its parents. The foundations of her interdisciplinary discussion derive from a wide variety of academic fields including ethology, evolutionary psychology and sociobiology, infant psychology, developmental psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, cognitive archaeology, physical and cultural anthropology, art history and theory, aesthetics, and cultural history.
