Artificial Intelligence in Design '02

Researchers, developers, and users of advanced computation in design report to colleagues, and to fellow travellers in related fields, some of the recent research and development of artificial intelligence in design. The 29 peer-reviewed papers cover design synthesis, frameworks for design, spatial synthesis and analysis, conceptual knowledge, learning from human designers, evolutionary approaches, knowledge support, systemic support, and components in design and design models. Among specific topics are product data exchange using ontologies, elucidating the design requirements for conventional and automated conceptual design, computational tools for supporting the reflective team, and representational flexibility.
