Overview

This biography of Clement Attlee covers his life from his birth in 1883 in Surrey to how he became a socialist in his late teens, and worked for the Labour Party before becoming an MP. Also, the story of how he became Labour Leader in 1935, was deputy to Churchill in the wartime coalition, and then was Prime Minister from 1945-1951.
Hitherto classified secret material concerning Attlee and the atomic bomb is included in this new edition, reissued to coincide with 50th anniversary of the first Attlee government of 1945.
