Overview

Reflecting an analysis of books containing literary criticism of biographical material written in English, ACBR II supersedes the well-received first edition (ACBR, 1971, selected an Outstanding Reference Book by ALA's RASD and listed in Sheehy) and expands its coverage to include books published through 1992. This is a finding tool for the world's critical literature, and a guide to commentaries on the works and lives of authors, an "author" being any writer of fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose, about whom something has been written. Passages cited are selected from the contents or text of each book. Encyclopedic and other reference works are excluded, as are works on one author alone, except when they also provide information on other authors. Each passage cited is at least six pages long.
