About the Author, Stuart Powell

Dr Stuart Powell is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Hertfordshire, where he was for some years the Director of Research Degrees. He also served a number of terms as Honorary Secretary of the UK Council for Graduate Education. In his career he has been a teacher, head teacher, university lecturer and researcher with a continuing underlying theme of interest in special educational needs. He has written and edited numerous articles and books on understanding and educating children with autism as well as some later works on research degree study.

Rita Jordan is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Birmingham.
