Overview

Test your avoidance play! This book is designed to accompany the Bridge Technique series.

The term "avoidance play" may seem intimidating, but in fact it means no more than preventing a particular defender from gaining the lead. You may think there is nothing particularly difficult about this, but of course, everything seems easy once you understand it yourself. There are plenty of players who would fail to make the majority of the contracts featured in this book.

The basic principles of avoidance play are straightforward, but applying them is not always so easy. Rest assured that some serious challenges await you in these pages!

About the Author, David Bird

David Bird, who lives near Southampton, England, has written more than 100 books on the game. Despite spending much of the year travelling, he still finds time to write new stories every month for a host of magazines around the world, usually featuring his best-known characters, the monks of St. Titus Abbey. He is also a regular commentator on BBO broadcasts of top-level competitions.

Tim Bourke is a world-renowned collector and creator of interesting bridge hands, which he regularly supplies to authors such as David Bird and David Silver. He also personally owns what is probably the world's largest bridge library and is often consulted as an expert on matters of bridge bibliography. He lives with his wife Margaret, an Australian international player, in Canberra, Australia.
