About the Author, Laurie R King

Laurie R. King is the "New York Times" bestselling author of eight Mary Russell mysteries, four contemporary novels featuring Kate Martinelli, and the bestselling novels A Darker Place, Folly, and Keeping Watch. She lives in northern California.

MICHAEL CONNELLY is a former journalist and the author of over a dozen bestselling books, including the Harry Bosch novels and Blood Work, which was a major motion picture. He has won numerous awards for his journalism, as well as an Edgar Award, a Nero Wolfe prize, a Macavity Award, and an Anthony Award for his books. Michael Connelly lives in Florida.

Justin Scott is the author of twenty-two novels. He has been called the Dick Francis of yachting. In his other life as a mystery writer, he created the Ben Abbott detective series and was twice nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in American history. He lives in Connecticut with his wife, the filmmaker Amber Edwards.

One of Britain's most popular authors of contemporary crime fiction, Val McDermid grew up in a Scottish mining community, read English at Oxford, then returned to Scotland to work as a journalist. She was National Bureau Chief on a national Sunday tabloid before quitting in 1991 to become a full-time novelist.

Catherine Aird is the author of some twenty crime novels and story collections, most of which feature Detective Chief Inspect C.D. Sloan. She holds an honorary M.A. from the University of Kent and was made an M.B.E. Her more recent works are "Little Knell" (St. Martin's Minotaur, 2001) and "Stiff News" (St. Martin's Minotaur, 1999). She lives in Sturry, Kent in England.
