Library Journal
It is tempting to say that babies would check out this book if they had library cards. Full of colorful illustrations that would definitely attract their attention, it is not likely to spend much time languishing on the shelves of public libraries. The book includes instructions for some 200 gifts for babies from the newborn to three years old, with emphasis on quickly completed projects. Guidelines for most projects occupy a single page and include a supply list, step-by-step instructions, photos of each item as it is being made, and a larger shot of the finished piece. Techniques include simple sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, woodworking, appliqu, quilting, tie-dye, paper crafts, salt-dough modeling, and patchwork, among others. There is something for every taste: the practical (a colorful reversible "bumper" to pad baby's crib) to the fanciful (a surprise pop-up card to welcome a new baby). With more than 1000 color illustrations, this hardcover is a bargain. Recommended for public libraries.-Janice Zlendich, California State Univ. Lib., FullertonBook Details
