Overview
Kaplan, who has written other books on military history, describes the lives of the men who crewed the big-gun battleships of WWII, often allowing the men to speak in their own words from letters and other accounts. B&w and color historical photos on every page show the ships and their crews throughout the battleship era, from the destruction of the Russian Baltic Fleet by the Japanese in 1905, through the two world wars, to the handful of ships which are still preserved as museum pieces today.
