Library Journal

Both of these books are for beaders wanting to expand their repertoire of techniques. Dickt (New Dimensions in Contemporary Beadwork) offers a nice change of pace with French beading, done by stringing beads on wire and then looping and shaping the wire to form flowers and leaves. Provided here are general instructions and step-by-step projects for elaborate floral arrangements, all done with beads. Pearce (Dimensional Embroidery) offers a tutorial on beaded and embroidered floral embellishments on shoes, bags, and decorative ornaments. Many of Pearce's two-dimensional designs are reminiscent of English crewelwork, while her three-dimensional designs are similar to stumpwork. Both books are excellent selections for public libraries.
