A teddy bear in each of these Bear's Book and Soft Puzzle books asks rhymed questions about numbers, shapes, colors and farm animals. Little ones can choose the correct response from several possible illustrations in the margin. (A sample query: ``What shape can bounce and roll on the ground?'') The soft puzzles packaged with the books contain pieces to match each right answer (a ball, for instance) and may be placed over the appropriate shape on the page. Strong, simple drawings, a vibrant palette and a sturdy format give these books toddler appeal. Cleverly employing an unusual concept, these engaging books will also find favor as beginning identifiers of familiar objects. Books and puzzles can be used separately or in tandem.
