Synopsis

The author argues that "each form of oppression is part of a single complex, interrelated, self-perpetuating system" that can only be overcome if oppressed groups stop competing amongst each other and recognize each other as allies, even while acknowledging everybody's individuality of personal and historical experience. She critically analyzes the forms of oppression experienced by people and explores how people can start to go about the process of becoming an "ally" to other oppressed peoples.
