Children's Literature

After a busy day of playing, Button, a young brown bear cub, needs to go to bed. He remembers the fun of the day, but when his memories return to the big scary tree-bear, Button worries that he'll have frightful dreams. To help calm down Button, Daddy tells him about a very happy day when there was nothing scary—the day that Button was born. Daddy recounts his own memories of Button's first day while an excited Button repeatedly interjects questions until the whole family has peacefully drifted to sleep. Amber Stewart's sweet story is made more adorable by Layn Marrow's illustrations of the bear family and their adventures. This short book makes for a great bedtime story for young children as they prepare for their own sweet dreams to come. Reviewer: Amanda Ledbetter
