Synopsis
Memoirs of a Dutch Jewish physician. In August 1942 he was arrested and interned in Amersfoort, and in December 1942 he was sent to Westerbork where he was appointed as a doctor. In September 1943 he was deported to Auschwitz and became an assistant in the department for the mentally ill, and later Artzvormelder, arranging sicklists. Describes the conduct of the SS and his German colleagues Rohde, Klein, and Fischer. Sketches the death march in January 1945 to Melk (via Mauthausen) and the harsh conditions in this camp and in Ebensee where he was liberated. His wife, son, parents, and sister perished.Book Details
