Overview
Di Benedetto, a psychiatrist and training analyst of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society, has a special interest in aesthetics and creativity. Here he analyzes how the arts can inform and inspire psychoanalysis (instead of vice versa). He considers music, painting, sculpture, architecture, poetry, and narrative, the creativity behind them, and their aesthetic experience, as well as modes of analysis through artistic thinking, nonverbal communication, and psychoanalytic listening. Among the works he discusses are the frescoes of the Loggia of Psyche by Giovanni da Udine in Rome, The Magic Flute by Mozart, and Six Characters in Search of an Author by L. Pirandello. There is no index. The book is distributed in the US by ISBS. Annotation Β©2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, ORBook Details
