Honesty is defined with words and ten situations as examples. "Honest people do not tell lies, cheat, or steal. Honest people can be trusted." A few hand-lettered lines per spread explain the circumstance with heavier print for the conclusion. "Sam's father asks him if he has done his homework. Sam says he has not finished it yet. Sam is being honest." The picture shows Sam on the sofa with the television on. Breaking a vase, finding a purse, keeping eyes on your own paper at school, and telling the babysitter the real bedtime are common childhood situations in which children should be honest. Brightly colored acrylic drawings outlined in black show children in their normal habitats of home, school, and neighborhood. This book is a part of the "Way to Be!" series. An index, a list of books for further information, and a FactHound web site are included. This is an "Accelerated Reading" book. The concept is clearly presented for the age group. This is a good book for discussion with parents and in the classroom. Reviewer: Carlee HallmanBook Details
