About the Author, Robert Pearce

Robert Pearce is a professor of History at the University College of St Martin, Lancaster, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. The author of a dozen history books, he has also edited and introduced six volumes in the Duckworth ‘Sayings’ series.
