Editorials

The Washington Post

Assembled for this beautifully designed and printed book, the pictures are stunning, the accompanying anecdotes personal and revealing -- and often quite poignant. The blues wasn't just the music but, for too many musicians, a condition as well. Waterman's subjects range from the well-known (B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Lightnin' Hopkins) to the little-known (Roosevelt Sykes, Bukka White) and include such blues devotees as Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and Eric Clapton. β€” Richard Harrington
