Children's Literature
In this "Green Light Reader," Big Pig and Little Pig are hot. They decide to make a pool; Big Pig starts digging with a shovel, while Little Pig hops behind the wheel of an earthmover. They go on like this, Big Pig working on a small scale and Little Pig on an exaggerated scale. As a level one reader, the book is well suited to its audience because of its brevity and simplicity. Much of the charm in the book comes from McPhail's illustrations; he really draws a cute pig. Children will like this book because of the humorous juxtaposition of the two pigs' methods of doing work. The book also has a parallel Spanish translation. Reviewer: Colby Cash
