Children's Literature

This high interest nonfiction book details the legend of Bigfoot for upper elementary readers. The book is divided into short chapters. At the beginning of each chapter there are bullets with brief details about what should be learned in that chapter. The first chapter on the legend of Bigfoot tells about a man who spotted Bigfoot and supposedly captured his image on film. It also explains where Bigfoots have been sighted. Another chapter details the history of Bigfoot explaining that even Native Americans might have seen Bigfoot because they drew pictures of something similar. Newspapers began reporting sightings as early as the late 1700s. The third chapter introduces the organization of researchers that studies and tracks Bigfoot sightings. The last chapter explains the theories of what Bigfoots could actually be. The book contains full color pictures with captions and facts throughout. The end of the book has a glossary, a list of books for further reading, Internet site suggestions, and an index. Highly recommended for students who love reading about unusual unsolved mysteries. Contains a lot of information at a readable level for elementary students. 2005, Capstone Press, Ages 8 to 12.
