Translating verses from Psalms into catchy rhymes for young children is a labor of love. In ten pages this author, mother, and Episcopal priest, expresses themes of praise, friendship, thanks, singing, sadness, and a sense of quiet time. The rhymes and pictures illustrate the feelings of children in their lives of play. Citing The Psalter in the Book of Common Prayer of 1979 by the Church Hymnal Corporation as the source of the verses, accounts for the different numbering of two of the verses by one number, from the verse number in the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. When the correct Bible verse is discovered, the theme is well carried out. The illustrations by an artist from Cricket magazine show among others: rollicking children dancing in the sprinkler with the dog; a little boy with his fist to his eye on his father's lap, the very essence of sorrow; and an exuberant boy, on top of a rock, with arms outstretched, portrays the idea of God as our rock.
