    Purpose: The authors provide the most up-to-date, research-based information available on human communication and theories of acquisition and cognitive development, with a brief introduction to speech and language disorders. They include language samples and case examples to further understanding of language development.
    Audience: The book is intended for students in speech-language pathology learning about typical language development.
    Features: It covers the range of language development across the lifespan, including language diversity for those of differing social and/or cultural backgrounds. The early stages of language development (i.e., from birth to 2 years) are fully covered. The authors also share their personal experiences to provide examples. The book also includes a comprehensive glossary and a searchable index.
