Synopsis
This text offers a new approach to teaching nineteenth- and early twentieth-century British history that focuses on key topics within the period, and then explores each topic's background providing essay- writing examples and historical skills exercises. The text targets the needs of students studying for the AS-level exams, and covers topics including railways, public health and social policy, Gladstone and Disraeli at home and abroad, the Irish question, and the liberal and coalition ministries in the early twentieth century.
