Gr 5 Up-This biography is packed with information on Lee, his films, his family, and his legacy. It includes both the usual movie stills of Lee in action and rarer, more revealing photos in color and in black and white of him with his siblings, in his parents' home, and in a dance contest (he was a cha-cha champion in Hong Kong). Tagliaferro introduces Lee's daughter, whom many writers ignore in favor of her late brother, Brandon. The author gets much of her information from interviews with the people who knew Lee best (including his wife), and the quotes she incorporates give the book an added personal dimension. As with many biographies of larger-than-life characters, there seems to be some exaggeration, as when the author claims that Lee avoided punches "seconds" before they reached him. But all in all, this is a solid offering, with tidbits of unusual information and contacts for scholarships in Lee's name.-Laura Santoro, Coventry Library, Cleveland Heights, OH Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.|Book Details
