Overview

Building a Corporate Internet Strategy The It Manager's Guide Amit K. Maitra The Internet is no place to rush in blindly—especially if you are responsible for establishing a site for an entire company. Without a defining agenda and implementation plan, you run the risk of encountering all those things CEOs, boards of directors, and stockholders don't like to hear about: shortsighted goals, time misspent, out-of-date equipment, and a lot of money spent with little to show for it. This book is an information technology (IT) manager's guide to building and maintaining a successful business site, one that fully (and securely) enhances all aspects of the enterprise—sales, marketing, customer service, human resources, finance, and more. In one concise, authoritative volume, it offers practical, proven courses of action (backed by real-life case studies) for taking the Internet for all it's worth. Using this guide, you will be able to create an Internet plan that has the full support of business managers. Building a Corporate Internet Strategy provides the information you need to:
* Realize the highest return on your Internet investment
* Document the costs and benefits of being online in dollars-and-cents terms
* Get up to speed on crucial technical issues, including Web server security, inbound data activities, restricted information access, and electronic ordering and selling
* Develop an efficient, farsighted corporate online policy
* Construct your own Intranet—your company's exclusive, needs-based online universe!
"What can the Internet do for us?" "What will it cost?" Get this book and you'll have the answers to these inevitable questions at hand.
