Synopsis

For almost a century and a half, Bulfinch's Mythology has been the text by which the great tales of the gods and goddesses, Greek and Roman antiquity, Scandinavian, Celtic, and Oriental fables and myths, and the age of chivalry have been known.

About the Author, Thomas Bulfinch

Thomas Bulfinch (1796-1867) was the son of Charles Bulfinch, the architect of the Capitol building in Washington, DC. Thomas Bulfinch is considered to be an American historian and reteller of myths and legends even though he worked on his book during intervals in his banking career.

His works -- The Age of Fables (1855), The Age of Chivalry (1858), and The Legends of Charlemagne (1863) -- are normally termed Bulfinch's Mythology.

These works were aimed at the young adult reader and were very popular when first published and today.
