About the Author, Ben West

Ben West has written on a wide variety of subjects, from property and health to education and travel for many newspapers and magazines including the Guardian, the Independent, the Daily Telegraph, the Times, and Reader's Digest. He was chief property correspondent of the Daily Express and the Sunday Express from 1999-2001. His books include London for Free, Fun for a Fiver in London and Fun for a Fiver in Amsterdam (both Pan Books), and The Virgin Guide to Buying a Home (Virgin Books).

John Howell established John Howell & Co in Sheffield in 1979 and by 1997 it had become one of the largest and most respected law firms in the north of England, employing over 100 lawyers. On moving to London in 1995, John Howell has gone on to specialize in providing legal advice to clients buying property abroad.
