Synopsis

Nearly two generations of undergraduate social science and business majors are grateful to Gemignani for this text that works through the basics of calculus asking for no more preparation than high school algebra and some analytic geometry. The eight chapter topics include sets, functions and graphs, limits and continuity, special functions, the derivative and some of its uses, the definite integral and its applications, and the functions of several variables, including partial differentiation and Lagrangian multipliers. Gemignani includes three levels of exercises and an answer key. This is a reprint of the 1972 W.B. Saunders edition. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
