Man awakens from his many-centuried sleep, and with both fists is rubbing slumber from his eyelids. Fresh breezes from above wash the brain and create it anew. The morning bath,--and man goeth forth to get the day's work started while the fields are moist and malleable. These are the primal days, O praisers of ancient things. Present man is a pioneer; and the paths ye casually trample through the wild, shall harden into highways for a thousand peoples yet to be. If ye plot the earth-field wisely now, with far-lookings into futurity, then, when the world's day shall be at high noon, and a meridian sun has baked the earth rigid, the world form will have been moulded in wisdom, swaying all the future into order and orbit.
