Synopsis
Based on the results of an EU study on the recovery and utilization of carbon dioxide (RUCADI), this report presents an outline of emissions in the EU, and examines the scientific and technical aspects of carbon dioxide separation, carbon dioxide technological use, utilization of supercritical carbon dioxide, and the perspective use of carbon dioxide in chemical and biological processes. Topics of the 16 chapters include supercritical fluid chromatography, polymer synthesis in supercritical carbon dioxide, linear organic carbonates, electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide, residual biomass as a source of energy, and the effect of recovered carbon dioxide on methanol production.
