Gr 5-8-These titles provide background information for students interested in becoming either "e-tailers" or e-commerce content providers. One of their biggest flaws is that they do not address the recent bust of the dot-com industry and subsequent layoffs, resulting in a glut of young computer professionals. That said, there are still plenty of teens hoping to enter the field and these books will provide them with the basics necessary to make wise career choices. Each book includes a history of the career, who needs the services it provides, different specializations within each field, and how to get started. Lists of Web sites, books, magazines, and organizations to contact for more information are included. While the illustrations do little more than add color to the pages, the sidebars and personal stories provide interesting snapshots of real life. The books are most appropriate for a middle-grade audience, but the higher age range may be turned off by the large print and open format.-Yapha Nussbaum Mason, Brentwood Lower School, Los Angeles Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
