Synopsis

Originally published in 1992 (and then reprinted almost annually until 2001), this concise study explains the core ideas of Carl Rogers' (1902-1987) theories about human beings and effective therapy, discusses his therapeutic practices, and considers their implications for an understanding of human growth and relationships. Criticisms of his approach and an assessment of his overall influence are represented, and a short biography and bibliography are included. The author introduces this second edition by asserting Rogers' continuing importance as a source of wisdom in light of recent world events, but he does not say what changes (if any) have been made to the book.
