The "ever changing styles of fashion" would be a more fitting title. If there were one constant in popular culture it would have to be the "in one day, out the next" concept of clothing. It's a wonder no one ever invented disposable clothing (although alot of people treat clothes as if they were). Thoughout time, clothes have been the signifier of staus, gender, occupation and personality. The historical view of fashion reveals much about societal and political circumstance. As it walks through each period of time–Ancient Civilizations, the Baroque period, French fashion, the 20th Century, WWII–Changing Styles in Fashion describes the function and designs of the different styles of dress and explains the attitudes that surround the fashions. It certainly refreshing to view history through the fashions of past decades, rather than usual milestones of war and conquer.
