Overview

Four young people entered the world of high school rodeo, never foreseeing that their paths would diverge and come together again. In Chasing the Dream, the four friends find their way through complicated lives to discover the rewards of professional rodeo life, love, and ultimately, a faith in God. One of them, Tom Rawlings, is a cowboy with a dream of his own, a passion for barrel racer Melanie Monroe, and a heart for God. Through him, each of his friends slowly finds his or her way to Christ. But will Mel find a place in her heart for Tom as well?

Library Journal

Ever since high school, Tom Rawlings and his friends Forrest, Jen, and Alison have been chasing the dream of becoming world-class rodeo riders. As they enter the crass and dusty world of the national Champion rodeo circuit, their friendship is challenged by the fierce, and sometimes dishonest, competition of the rodeo. Rawlings's Christ-like love shines like a beacon in this world of dark, despairing moments, drawing unto itself the bruised bodies and souls of the three friends. Colson (Cherish, Palisades, 1995) has drawn a convincing portrait of the power of community and the strength of unconditional love. Recommended for most libraries.
