Synopsis
CityWorks, an award-winning curriculum focusing on understanding a community, challenges young people to use their heads and hands to investigate the neighborhoods in which they live. Through interviews, research in local archives, and the creation of "artifacts"--maps, photographs, audiotaped oral histories, and three-dimensional models--students document their cities as they find them, and develop new visions of what their cities could be.
CityWorks is a valuable resource for teachers, parents, community activists, and youth agencies--anyone interested in helping teens tap into the resources of their communities and their own potential as citizens and change agents.
