Synopsis

Shafritz and Weinberg, both affiliated with the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, present a collection of documents, court cases, speeches, articles, and book excerpts. The selections, which date from the Mayflower Compact of 1620 to a 2002 speech by George W. Bush, are grouped into 14 sections that correspond to the way in which courses in American government are typically taught. Each selection includes a brief introduction. This third edition includes five new readings. Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
