Description:Besides its extensive and detailed coverage, this new edition of an established anatomy textbook provides readers a great deal of information about the clinical application of human anatomy. It is well organized, well written, and illustrated with unique drawings that help to explain the clinical applications. It can certainly be a good choice for medical school teaching or a valuable reference for teaching clinically related anatomy classes.
Purpose:Although not stated in the preface, the author has made it clear that this book is targeted at medical, dental, allied health, or nursing students who need to know about human anatomy in clinical settings. This worthy objective is well served by this book.
Audience:Written for students in healthcare-related fields, this book also can be a useful reference for anatomy instructors and healthcare practitioners. Dr. Snell is a well known author in the field.
Features:The book covers clinically oriented human anatomy and some related subjects of tissue biology (histology) and embryology. The coverage is extensive, detailed, and particularly clinically oriented. The unique features of this book are the clinical and embryological notes and the drawings that help readers understand clinical application of human anatomy. Some of the drawings are unique compared with other anatomy textbooks, although the quality is not as good. However, the quality problem does not overshadow the usefulness of these drawings.
Assessment:This is a unique anatomy textbook that provides students a lot of features not found in other textbooks. It is certainly useful for medical school teaching and as a reference for anatomy instructors. This new edition is better illustrated and richer in content compared with its previous versions.
