Children's Literature
The American armed forces possess a massive array of weaponry. None is more capable of accomplishing its assigned task than the A-10 Thunderbolt. Designed to hunt and destroy tanks and other armored vehicles. A-10 Thunderbolts have been used successfully in both the 1991 Persian Gulf War as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom. Heavily armed and armored, the A-10 looks clumsy but it protects its pilot. Armed with missiles, a high power Gatling gun, and tank-busting shells the size of soda bottles the A-10 is a tremendous asset to the U.S. military. In this illustrated little book, Michael and Gladys Green give a brief overview of the A-10. The authors discuss the construction and function of this tank buster. Included in the text is a great deal of nitty gritty information about how the Thunderbolt operates. However, while this type of technical data may appeal to some, it appears rather complicated for typical readers. This book is part of the "War Planes" series. 2004, Capstone Press, Ages 12 up.βGreg M. Romaneck
