Arthur Freeman (EdD, ABPP), is visiting professor in the Department of Psychology at Governors State University, University Park, IL, a clinical professor in the Department of Psychology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Director of Training at Sharidan Shores Care and Rehabilitation Center in Chicago. He is a Distinguished Founding Fellow at the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Freeman has published widely in CBT and has lectured internationally. His work has been translated into twelve languages. He holds diplomas in clinical, family, and behavioral psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a Fellow of APA. Springer Publishing Company has published numerous of his books, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Nursing Practice, co-edited with Sharon Morgillo Freeman (2004), Cognition and Psychotherapy, now in its second edition, coedited with Michael J. Mahoney, Paul DeVito, and Donna Martin (2004) andBorderline Personality Disorder: A Practitioner's Guide to Comparative Treatments, coedited with Mark Stone and Donna Martin (2004, paperback 2007).
Sharon Morgillo Freeman, PhD, MSN, RN-CS, is an Advanced Practice Clinical Nurse Specialist and was Clinical Director of Inpatient Addiction Services, Inpatient Acute Psychiatric and Dual Diagnosis Units for the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center at Presbyterian from 1998-2004. These units won the national treatment program award in 2002 as well as the state and city awards for best practice that same year. She is certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy as a Cognitive Therapist in addition to being certified as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. She has a doctorate in sociology and two master's degrees, one in psychology and the other in advanced practice psychiatric nursing.
Dr. Freeman is President-Elect of the National Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC), where she holds senior-level international certifications (MAC), and is Immediate Past-President of the Pennsylvania Association for Addiction. She serves on the Steering Committee of the Northeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center Practice Improvement Collaborative, a division of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration office out of the U.S. National Department of Health and Human Services. She has lectured nationally and internationally on the problems of substance misuse, addiction issues, cognitive behavior therapy, and chronic pain problems. Dr. Freeman authored several chapters for the Core Curriculum for Addiction Nurses for the International Society for Addiction Nursing. Prior to her move to Indiana, Dr. Freeman had been a lecturer and preceptor for the school of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She has lectured for the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing on substance misuse and psychiatric disorders. She is an associate faculty member at Indiana/Purdue University and maintains a private practice at Aboite Behavioral Health Services in Fort Wayne.
