Overview

It's anything bu the ho-hum princess diary that is so yesterday. Coke or Pepsi?l GIRL! Diary turns "dear diary" on its head. Girls can find fresh, hot-off-the-presses Coke or Pepsi? questions, a tree to carve messages in, a place to keep things they just can't part with, and tons of shout-out spaces. There are prompts, like "What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened lately" to "5 things you did today from worst to best."

And no fears, there's still plenty of space to write about all those emotional days for die-hard journalers.

Finally, there's a personalized diary for Coke or Pepsi? fans everywhere. Sweet.

Children's Literature - Heather Robertson Mason

Every girl needs a diary. This book offers to fit the bill, but it is no ordinary diary. Rather than plain white pages to write on, this book asks questions, gives assignments, and even poses dares to its readers. Each page is something new. It could ask readers to make a list of what they spend most of their time thinking about, quiz them on what they like and hate about family members, track their moods for a week or ask them to create a movie poster about their latest drama. The graphics are edgy and cool; even the blank pages at the end meant for use as a diary are colorful and entertaining. As a real journal, this would be a flop (not as enough room for free writing), but as a fun thing for a girl to complete either alone or with friends it succeeds. Teachers and librarians would have little use for it, but it would make a nice gift for your middle school/ early high school child. Reviewer: Heather Robertson Mason
