Synopsis
Classifying the world's nations into six groups, McCormick (political science, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis) examines the constitution and distribution of political power in liberal democracies, Communist countries, post-Communist countries, newly industrialized countries, less developed countries, and Islamic countries. The result is a less-Eurocentric comparative analysis than one commonly finds in introductory textbooks, and the fact that the text is single-authored lends it cohesiveness. McCormick maintains a website with updated links. A CD-ROM is included (what's on it is not described). Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
