Synopsis
This edition of Pavlov's account of his pioneering work in experimental psychology was translated under the auspices of the Royal Society of London and is the only English version available. Based on a series of lectures Pavlov delivered in 1924, reviewing his experiments and summarizing his conclusions, the book first describes the theory upon which he constructed his experiments, then describes the conditioned reflex. Pavlov details the technical means by which he established experiments and controls, and discusses the significance of these experiments in terms of psychology and behavior. The current work is an unabridged republication of the edition published by Oxford University Press, London, 1927. A previous edition of this work is cited in Books for College Libraries, 3d ed..
